Official: Any US president to sanction Nord Stream-2
VERONA, Italy, Oct 23 (PRIME) -- The U.S. will erect barriers for the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project no matter who wins the presidential elections, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said on Friday.
"Everything is calculated step by step in the U.S. planning, perhaps… Claims will arise, as well as the barriers, and I think it will happen under any administration," Pankin said.
The official also said that Germany is still interested in the project regardless of the continuing pressure of the U.S.
On Tuesday, the U.S. extended sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline to include companies that provide services of upgrading or installment of equipment on the ships laying the pipeline.
